Much Better Now

| | Comments (2)

On Monday evening, Rosie had an adverse reaction to a vaccination* and had to get emergency steroids, antihistamines, and fluids. She spent the night at the emergency vet before they cleared her to come home. And she's still kind of groggy and out of it, but much much better.

She does this just to keep us on our toes, I think.

*Leptospirosis; the evidence seems to indicate that vaccination is not going to be much help anyway, so neither of them will be getting this one again.

Its a perverse relief that its a known problem (allergies), rather than some crap import that could potentially make a lot of animals (and possibly humans) ill or dead. Give the puppy a few gallons of pats for me.

Well, I have to admit that I didn't really consider that imported vaccine might be an issue in this case. Occam's Razor says it was likely just an allergic reaction rather than a taint issue.

We're just glad she had the reaction while still at the vet's. And that the vet was alert and acted promptly (while moderately freaking out because this vigourous healthy puppy suddenly went near-unconscious on her).

And pats have been passed on, received with appreciation.
